The oddly named APPGOPO has been going for over a year now, and regularly has open events where speakers are invited to give presentations on relevant topics, with a question and answer session afterwards.
http://www.appgopo.org.uk/
I went to the talk last month on ultra-low carbon farming, with some interesting points raised (The presentations were recorded and are posted on the site linked above)
Next week, the event is "The Global Impact of Peak Oil: International Relations & Business" which I shall also be attending. I'll let you know if there's anything of interest raised.
Feel free to sign up to the group to get updates and invitations to future events.

After talking about a few ideas at the last
Green Drinks, we decided that setting up a virtual library would be a good idea and very easy to do.
This will involve submitting to the forum any books that you are willing to lend to others. I will compile a master list with books, authors and names, and you can then contact each other through the forum to ask to borrow any given book. The forums can be found here. Continue reading...

I have stapled two Green Drinks posters to the boards of the Community Garden., Within the space of one minute of doing so, two people had looked at them, so hopefully this may well draw the odd person to Green Drinks. The poster details the dates, email address of John and the website details.

This article from the Beeb shows how efforts on the Isle of Wight are coming to fruition with regards to its energy plans. If only we could do the same!!!
An Isle of Wight community group says it is aiming to make the island the UK's first energy self-sufficient and carbon neutral region by 2020.
The island, which is 23-miles long and 1...

Shock and anger! It's eventually happened. The wooden door was returned to its correct position, along with two extra nailed planks and some wire permanently joining the two wooden doors together. A clear message has been sent by, one can only presume, Hampshire County Council.
This did not deter the Gardening Do-Gooders who found an alternative entrance. We continued painting and gardening and even found some slow worms. Ellie and her mother Fiona produced some lovely artwork that can been s... Continue reading...
